Four-legged co-Pilot: Tips for a Fun-filled Road Trip with Your Pet Dog

Everyone in the family knows that it wouldn’t be a trip to remember without your pet dog. Create great memories and have your pet tag along on a road trip. But before you get going, here are tips to ensure your pet’s safety while on the road.

Have your dog checked.
Tell your vet about your plans to bring your pet on a road trip. The doctor can prescribe meds for allergies and motion sickness, if your dog has any. Have your dog updated with vaccinations, too.

Plan your destination and look for a pet-friendly accommodation.
Make a schedule that will accommodate 15-20 minute stopovers and breaks for every four-hour drive. Plan meals and check if there are sights on the way to your destination.

Naturally, you wouldn’t want a hotel that won’t take in your dog. Search for pet-friendly options so you would not have to go from one place to another just to accommodate everyone.

Pack for your dog.
Pack a bag of essentials for your dog. Make sure you’re packing medicines, water, food, food bowl, clothing, insect repellent, blanket, and flea comb.

Maintain a routine for your dog.
Take time to walk your dog around, and help them get rid of travel anxiety. Let your dog feel as if they’re at home by maintaining a routine.
